At Original Bathrooms we care passionately about the bathroom fittings we sell. Our desire is to give excellent and informed service, build on our relationships and have a little fun along the way. Above all - We really, quite simply, love bathrooms! Alex has worked at Original Bathrooms for over ten years. She started in the admin department but it was not long before her love for design and her great communication skills took her to the showroom floor. Alex has a passion for simple and elegant design.

If you have don't have space for a bath and a shower, and very rarely use a bath, consider a big walk in shower instead. This can be a wet room type shower with or without a shower tray. Alternatively, you can install a shower bath, which is a bath designed for in bath showering, possibly with wall mounted bath taps and shower controls. If being bath-less when it comes to selling your property is a concern, it is reassuring to know that most home buyers would prefer a well designed shower room without a bath to a poorly designed bathroom.

To see the cistern or not see the cistern, that is the question. A WC with a hidden cistern can be 'back to wall' or wall hung. A back to wall WC has the pan sitting flush to the wall, while a wall hung WC is lifted off the ground, which makes it easy to clean around and gives a greater illusion of space. Wall hung WCs do not fall off the wall! You will be reassured to know that in Switzerland 83% of toilets installed are wall hung. A sturdy frame or brackets are used to support the toilet pan off the floor and a panel, sometimes called a duct, hides the cistern, also known as water tank.

Original Bathrooms has a unique heritage, with family links to the great Victorian inventors who gave us the first wash-down closets. Below you will find a remarkable pictorial history of the family's involvement in the invention and development of the flushing toilet system as we know it today. Edward Humpherson first became a silversmith before turning to plumbing in the early 1870s. He was a fine, upright gentleman with a bushy moustache and a gold watch and chain draped proudly across his chest.

At the heart of Original Bathrooms is an amazing team of wonderful people who are bright enthusiastic and professional.
