We specialise in the supply and installation of interior plantation shutters and do not supply blinds. Interior plantation shutters are arguably the best window dressing for a bay window. Mounted to suit the shape of the window, unlike curtains, shutters retain the original intention of the bay. They work equally well in a modern or period property, following the shape of the bay, creating privacy whilst maximising light in the room. Bay window shutters, and indeed all our shutters, are costed on the overall size of the window and the material used for the shutters - we have a wide product range for you to choose from.
Plantation shutters aren't just for windows. They are the perfect alternative to curtains for dressing both traditional, hinged French doors and sliding patio doors. Both are becoming ubiquitous, particularly in modern homes, yet they remain hard to dress. Shutters are both sleek and stylish and what's more, they allow privacy without making a room dark. Shutters also allow flexible use of opening, provide shade in summer and insulation in the winter - and at night. You control the light coming into the room all year round.
Plantation shutters are the perfect solution for a glazed room like a conservatory or orangery because they provide the flexibility that other window coverings cannot. Unlike blinds they can be partially opened or closed for light control and privacy. Shutters are an excellent insulator and will assist in keeping a conservatory cool in summer and warm in winter. The materials used have good thermo properties and will reflect the sun when closed in summer, trapping heat before it can enter the room.
The Window Shutter Company is a family run business. You will have the continuity of dealing with Liz and Tim throughout the process, direct contact with a friendly team who care about customer service and satisfaction. Take a look at Our Portfolio if you haven't had shutters before and are trying to visualise how they might work for you. We've highlighted how shutters can work in every room of your house from your kitchen-diner to the bathroom. Once you've got an idea where you want to have shutters, you can start to think about the Style (e.g Full Height or Caf Style) and then move on to consider materials, colours and finishes.
Window shutters are the most flexible window dressing solution - and that flexibility is arguably required most in the bedroom, where light control and privacy are paramount. The stylish look and flexible nature of these shutters are ideally suited to creating a darkened room for sleeping and flooding a room with light in the morning whilst you ready yourself for the day ahead. At the same time as brightening your morning, you can maintain a level of privacy by setting the louvres at an angle - ideal where neighbours could see in if the window space was left completely clear.
Our Hollywood range is the ideal product for your bathroom or kitchen. Made from ABS plastic this product is guaranteed against water damage. Used for many purposes, ABS is lightweight, tough and can be injection moulded and extruded which make it the ideal material to produce plantation shutters. This range offers a stylish, practical and hard-wearing window covering, where other products cannot cope with the humid and moist atmosphere. Any fabric product can suffer from mildew, whilst thin wood Venetian blinds can warp easily from the humidity.
