You Can only install a wooden Mantle if it complies to HETAS regulations for DTC distance to combustibles. As a rule of thumb. This is 450mm above the appliance. Or 3 x the connecting pipe diameter. Eg 125 x3 =375 DTC or 150 x3 =450 DTC this is set in Stone. If a inspection is carried out by HETAS and this regulation is not adhered to the installation WILL be condemned. Wood burning stoves are for seasoned dry wood the moisture content should be less than 20%. Never burn unseasoned high in sapp Wood such as conifers.
Had our Stove fitted by Mr Sweep as well as rebuilding the chimney breast and installing the hearth, after having our back boiler removed left us with big hole in the wall. Couldn't be happier with stove and service, great guys and very reasonable on price. Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely outstanding company! After doing our homework and researching other companies in Essex, we have been so impressed by the experience we have had with Mr Sweep. Chris gave us excellent advice when we visited the shop, and even visited our house together with Matt, who went on to fit our log burner, the same day to get a better picture of what we needed. We had quite specific design plans and Chris and Matt were the only people who understood and offered a solution, as well as extra expertise such as making a (cheaper and far more attractive!) bespoke hearth as an extra design feature - something we had not thought of but now love. We received a quote later that same day which was the cheapest we had found - very reasonable. Within the fortnight we now have a beautiful fire. The fitting was excellent. There was no delay and Matt's work was meticulous. The attention to detail, cleanliness and focus on safety (carbon monoxide training, learning how to use the log burner safely around a toddler etc.) was extremely professional. Chris even dropped around a basket of logs upon completion. Even though the showroom is new, it is clear that the company is well-establishe d and they have great experience. We are very happy customers and would thoroughly recommend Mr Sweep to anyone looking to have a log burner fitted.
Had our wood burner fitted by Mr Sweep and couldn't rate them high enough. Chris explained the solutions needed for our hearth aperture and marble requirements which worked perfectly - we chose a 5kw modern stove with old Lambeth brick inserts and an oak beam mantle - shaped and fitted by Matt who installed the whole installation - Matt signed off the Hetas plate and our cosy fire is ready to go! Look no further than Mr Sweep for all your fire solutions. Peter and Julie Stanford Le Hope
