The Nomads Tent

The Nomads Tent is nestled towards the end of the cobbles of St Leonard's Lane, as you walk towards Edinburgh's majestic Salisbury Crags, right next to Holyrood Distillery. We have been trading since 1983 and in our warehouse since 1991. We sell rugs, furniture, artefacts, pottery, jewellery and textiles and architectural features. All our goods are picked up in the bazaars of Persia, India, Afghanistan, Turkey and points East. Since opening we maintain that our goods are no less important than the people and cultures they come from.

Professional cleaning of carpets, rugs and kilims (flat weaves) costs 30 per square metre + VAT, with a few exceptions for very thick or very heavy items. Cleaning will freshen up your rugs and keep them healthy. Regular cleaning generally helps rugs to last longer. There is no simple rule but we suggest 5 to 10 year intervals may be enough, but a rug near the entrance door will need more. If you want to try cleaning yourself, ask our advice. This too we are happy to offer. After nearly 40 years trading in rugs and repairing them we have great experience and accumulated knowledge which allows us to offer reliable professional advice.
