After many years working in all aspects of the building industry, Richard Smyth felt that there was a need to bring a degree of professionalism to the carpentry and joinery trade and so Carpentry with Care was born. Experiences in the industry showed Richard that there are few carpentry and building companies operating today that can consistently meet and exceed customer expectations. Today, Carpentry with Care is doing what it set out to do. Through delivering exactly what our customers require with a smile and doing it with minimal disruption and cost, it has a large number of very satisfied customers.
Having worked as a carpenter and builder for more than twenty years he has gained a wide range of experience in domestic, commercial, retail and industrial construction. This means we will equally consider small works to large projects. Despite the name, it is not just purely carpentry work that is undertaken. One essential element though is the customer must require a quality result completed with care. Carpentry with Care does not profess to be the best, fastest nor the cheapest but to simply always endeavour to provide a safe, reliable, quality service.
Although a pleasing original feature the chimneystack was thought to be leaking which may have been remedied by repointing and new lead flashing. However the homeowner had experienced penetrating damp from above which manifested itself by cracking and discolouring the internal plaster finishes. It appeared this had happened over a long period of time and had caused the plaster to separate or 'blow' away from close contact with the masonry walls. As you may notice in the photographs, the chimneystack was situated on a party wall, so the penetrating damp was ruining plaster finishes to two properties.
