Established in 2003 and with studios in Surrey and North Yorkshire Multi-Award Winning BWP Architects have successfully undertaken and delivered on projects all across the country from Northumberland down to the south coast and as an RIBA Chartered Practice BWP Architects can handle all aspects of your project. The ability to design individual solutions for each client and for each scheme together with a firm understanding of construction detailing, contract administration and an ability to achieve planning permission where others have failed has attracted many of our clients.

James Palmer undertook his architectural education at Leicester School of Architecture where he met Leigh and Jane. James completed his studies in 1994 and worked in London for the next eleven years gaining considerable experience with social and sheltered housing projects and working with the volume house-building industry and a number of high-end developers including The Grosvenor Estate and Octagon Developments. James delivered complex projects involving new buildings within Conservation Areas and worked on the refurbishment of Grade I and Grade II Listed Buildings.

As well as working with developers to design and build individual houses or small groups of houses BWP Architects also plan new large housing developments of several hundred units. This involves an understanding of current urban planning issues, knowledge of highways requirements, an appreciation of the economical constraints of working with the largest of the country's housebuilders while all the time trying to ensure that the overall design produces a cohesive solution that addresses the local planning authorities needs and provides a pleasant place to live for the eventual residents.

At BWP Architects we can be involved in all aspects of your project from the initial design inception and feasibility studies through to the construction and final handover. Virtually any aspect of building work will need to comply with the Building Regulations and it is vitally important that this is handled properly. The Building Regulations cover a multitude of elements from the obvious like structural stability and insulation through to the more obscure such as the height of light switches. Building Regulation Approval can be obtained in two ways; through the Building Control Office at your local authority or through private regulated Approved Inspectors.

It is a requirement of the Architects Registration Board that all Architects carry Professional Indemnity Insurance. This is just another reason to choose using a professional company with properly registered Architects for your project. A copy of the BWP Architects Professional Indemnity Insurance details can be download from this link.

BWP Architects Ltd (formerly Brooks Ware & Palmer Architects LLP) were formed in October 2003 by Leigh Brooks and Stuart Ware who were joined by James Palmer in June 2009. Stuart retired from the practice in April 2015 following a sporting injury. The practice has two studios; the main office is in Farnham, Surrey run by Leigh Brooks and Jane Brooks with a second studio in Harrogate, North Yorkshire run by James Palmer. Rather than dogmatically sticking with or adopting a ‘house style' we let the project, the site and the client inform the design process.

BWP Architects approach each project from a fresh standpoint with tailor made services specific to the project and the client. Some clients only need early Feasibility Studies to decide whether they are taking the right general approach to a project, some require a full set of services from design inception through to completion of the built project and beyond.

What's new?

It's a BIG bit of news, at least we think so as it really starts to build the TEC Team and brings together the necessary minds to craft the design and move forward the agreements. We have appointed our Architects, our Energy Consultants and our Lease Consultant. It's exciting stuff!
