Robert graduated from the University of Brighton in 1987 and from London South Bank University in 1992. He has spent his career working in private practice on a wide variety of project types and sizes in Europe and North America. In recent years Robert has delivered a number of major projects including housing developments, university faculty buildings, college campuses and light industrial estates, which he has balanced with a steady flow of private domestic commissions. Robert Thornton has a long established relationship with a range of consultants from structural to services engineers, quantity surveyors and ecologists.
