Hunter Architects & Planners works with a small number of clients each year to explore and create perfect design solutions that meticulously respond to the demands and occasions of everyday life. Our clients are parents, couples, retirees and individuals. Binding them all is the belief that life is for living and so is building a home that helps you to enjoy it. Design-conscious and family-orientated, they seek an Architect who understands their drive to create a home that improves their lives. There will be a myriad of people involved with your project (and you may have some lined up already).
When attached to a home an Orangery or Garden Room are similar to conservatories, however are generally of more substantial proportions and construction including full height solid pillars and roofs although roof lanterns are often included within the roof structure to increase the sense of space and light. An orangery or Garden Room can create an unique feature to your family room and help link the house to the garden. Careful consideration of siting will be required to ensure that the orientation of the garden room won't make the orangery too cold in winter or too hot in summer.
Changing the use of any building into residential, particularly a barn conversion project, provides a number of challenges. In addition there are also many opportunities. Historic buildings particularly require careful consideration to retain the unique features while creating a functional and efficient home. The appeal of the traditional barn conversion is clear. Beautiful rural locations combine with large open spaces many having vaulted ceilings. In addition, large openings provide the opportunity for unique contemporary living in a period setting.
Hunter Architects & Planners are specialist house extension Architects having extended many homes across Cheshire and the North West since our companies' formation in 2007. Our clients sought expert house extension Architects for their project, after purchasing a period detached family home, on a secluded cul-de-sac in Altrincham. The property had a previous single-storey extension which housed the family kitchen; however, this had limited external access to the garden and did not have particularly good daylighting or layout.
As you'd expect, we design and construct buildings from initial concept sketches and feasibility studies, and see projects through the planning and building regulations stages to the finished building. Here's what else Hunter Architects brings to the table. As a husband and wife team with experience designing and constructing our own bespoke family home, we are uniquely placed to assist you with the design, construction or remodelling of yours. We appreciate the financial, legal and personal complexities, limitations and requirements of the process and project.
At Hunter Architects & Planners, we offer a dynamic combination of planning skills, services and experience making us an ideal partner for your project. Our skills are in-house and available either as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with our architectural design service. Our sector knowledge includes commercial, residential, retail, leisure, community, education, historic and mixed-use sectors. We are familiar with a number of complex issues and have a fantastic record of securing planning permission both by application and appeal.
Upon returning to Wilmslow after working abroad for a number of years with teenage children, our client's existing family home (which had been rented out for many years and had become tired) now didn't function as they have become accustomed to and was felt too small for their needs. This Wilmslow property originally consisted of a small kitchen and three double bedrooms (1 of which was a small single bedroom) and a relatively small but wide garden. Our client had two teenage daughters and identical bedroom suites for each formed part of the architectural brief.
