Khoury Architects is a practice of highly creative and imaginative architects, committed to designing contemporary and sustainable spaces and places which are as striking and innovative as they are socially, economically and environmentally responsible. The practice offers architectural and interior design services from its office in Stourbridge and since formation in 2005, has designed buildings in both private and public sectors across the UK. These include housing, student accommodation, care home and mixed use schemes.

This is as much about listening to your needs and trying to ascertain what is important to you as it is about explaining our working methods. At the end of this stage, Khoury Architects will understand the aspirations you have for your home as well as the budget you have in mind and the timescale you would like to work to. You will understand how the architectural process will evolve and the involvement needed from you at various stages. Together, they will draft sketch designs for approval by you.

You can be assured of consistent leadership throughout a project, with a Director assuming responsibility for design inception and working closely with a Project Architect. The Director is fully involved in the project throughout its duration and encourages critical evaluation to ensure that design ideas are progressively tested, refined and reviewed against the brief.

During Feasibility, Khoury Architects undertakes a full appraisal of your site as well as a strategic and detailed face to face briefing. In many cases, the production of a pre-application submission to the Local Planning Authority will facilitate planning approval by identifying potential objections and ensuring they are addressed fully during the detailed planning application process. Khoury Architects will act as planning agent throughout the process including consideration of local policies and attendance at planning committee if required.

Early design decisions such as building orientation and spatial arrangements can be influenced by energy saving mechanisms such as the use of natural daylight, beneficial solar gain and thermal mass. A desire to reduce energy consumption can lead to specification of certain materials such as triple glazed windows, a highly insulated building envelope and green roof systems. The extent to which you adopt sustainable technologies largely depends on how committed you are to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
