Each client and project is a unique challenge to us and we ensure the resulting environments are exceptional and appropriate. Our objective is to deliver projects that surpass our client's aspirations. Our work spans the full range of building types and locations, from a small office fit-out or penthouse apartment to extensive urban complexes comprising retail, office and hotel developments. This office refurbishment project refocused the central atrium to become a new destination at the heart of the workplace, with a new concierge reception and improved connectivity.

Chris is a technical director who manages the Building Services engineering team in the Dublin studio, ensuring that it retains its reputation for industry leading sustainable building designs of the highest quality. We have had a double win at the Women in Construction and Engineering (WICE) awards which celebrate the work of women in the construction and engineering industries. Celebrating Tomorrow's Engineers, we speak to building services technical apprentice Jesse who joined BDP in 2018. Three BDP apprentices are following in the footsteps of the practice's founder, Sir George Grenfell Baines by learning their trade in Preston.

Our civil and structural engineering teams are proactive in anticipating and solving challenges. We look to apply technology to refine design, increase efficiency and improve buildability. As an established practice with over 50 years knowledge and experience in the industry we are outstanding communicators and our approach is integrated and collaborative working closely with the client, design and construction team. This and our creativity is what make us special. What gives us an edge is our unique experience in contributing right from the start of projects, before the architects' ideas begin to form.

Our lighting team consists of artists, product designers, engineers, theatre designers and architects. Teamwork, conceptual integrity and sustainability are central to our philosophy and methods. Every project benefits from this vibrant mix of skills and backgrounds and we operate as a creative collective to deliver people centred designs. Independence from any supplier allows us to select the best solutions for the project. We are experienced in all the key areas of lighting design and market leaders in retail, heritage, leisure, education, libraries, workplace, public realm, art and art galleries, exterior architecture, environmental impact assessments and daylight design.

Whether urban or rural, the external environment helps to shape and define the places we live, work and spend our leisure time in. Our landscape architects are engaged with projects across the UK and overseas, protecting and enhancing the natural landscape or working with clients and communities to create 'smart' green masterplans, imaginative urban spaces, lively parks and attractive settings for new development. We are experienced designers in many sectors of the built environment, helping to create new landscapes for education, healthcare, retail, and workplace development, as well as enhancing the public realm in many of our urban centres.
