I began working for Parsons Joinery in 2013. I manage the day-to-day running of the business, overseeing workshop production as well as our installation and customer service teams. I love being able to see a project through, from giving the initial quotation to installation. I spend lots of time visiting customers' properties and managing their installations, but I also love being in the office - there's a great team atmosphere, and someone is always making a cup of tea. If I'm not in the office at the weekend, you'll usually find me watching football on a Saturday afternoon.

We use a variety of different wood species depending on the natural characteristics of the timber - we have something to suit each customer's personal preference. Some species are very durable, while others have a finer grain and can be machined more accurately. Some are decorative in appearance, and others can be plain. We'll be delighted to explain more and help you choose the best type of wood for your joinery. We season all our wood correctly - though do remember it's a natural product, so there will always be some variation.

We have considerable experience of timber and use our knowledge to recommend finishes for our joinery. From the very first consultation, we discuss your project in detail, making sure we can recommend an appropriate finish. We can offer both traditional brush finishes and smooth, modern spray finishes. This will depend on the aesthetic you prefer, and also the type of property you have - a brush coated finish will generally appear more authentic and work well for a period property. High performance, waterborne exterior joinery coatings using Morrells hybrid technology, giving superb weather protection and a smooth finish.

Timber is beautiful, low maintenance, easy to repair, adaptable, versatile and durable. When purchased from well-managed sources (as is always the case with our timber), it is a sustainable, environmentally friendly resource as well. Wood is visually appealing and warm to the touch. It offers a multitude of beautiful colours, textures, patterns and properties, and can be finished in a variety of ways including polishing, oiling, varnishing and painting. Period properties can be sympathetically restored using timber, retaining their traditional beauty.

High performance, engineered products such as boilers, washing machines, cars or joinery (of any material) will require some form of maintenance to ensure long life, efficient performance and visual appeal. Failure to keep to a planned maintenance schedule may at best ruin the appearance of your joinery. At worst, it could lead to the early deterioration of the components. The most important elements to maintain are the coating system and the hardware. However, it's advisable to check the entire unit (interior and exterior), including the glazing unit and weatherseals, for any signs of deterioration.
