People tend to burn biomass in two ways. The simplest method is to use a wood-burning stove, an enclosed metal box made from something like cast iron, with opening doors at the front where the fuel is loaded up and a small flue to carry away carbon dioxide, smoke, steam, and so on. This generally provides heat in a single room, much like a traditional coal fire. A biomass boiler is a more sophisticated option that can heat an entire building. Unlike a wood-burning stove, a biomass boiler does the same job as a central heating furnace (boiler) powered by natural gas, oil, or electricity: it can provide both your home heating and hot water and it can even power modern underfloor central heating.
Solar Water Heating uses the radiation from the sun to heat water in a panel often sited on the roof which in turn can supply that heat as hot water or to a central heating system. Unfortunately the demands on your central heating system are at their highest when the sun is weakest so a solar heating system will only contribute to part of your heating energy requirements. If the system has been sized correctly, it can provide at least 40-60% of all your hot water requirements throughout the year.
A new FGF Central Heating System will make you feel you have moved to a new property! Instant hot water, constant heat from your new radiators will bring warmth and make you feel cosy. Here at FGF upon your request we will carry out a home visit at a pre-arranged time, this can be evenings if required, to suit your working day. We will carry out a full survey and recommend the best possible system and materials for your budget. We will explain the various options, types of boiler, radiators or under floor heating, hot water options and the best energy efficient controls for your chosen system.
An FGF Boiler Service will ensure that your boiler runs safely and efficiently. Any boiler which is not serviced regularly could lead to nuisance failure and expensive repairs and higher heating bills. A non maintained boiler could produce dangerous gases which in turn could lead to health issues and in the worst case, could be fatal. So do not take the chance, get your boiler serviced by the FGF appliance service team, contact Ben and book an appointment. We stock parts for all major manufacturers, if we do not have the stock, normally the spares can be obtained by the next working day.
We will carry out a site survey (free of charge) of your bathroom to determine room sizes and to advise you how to make the best use of the space available. We will check your existing plumbing services, pipework and waste, to ensure they are compatible with what you have planned. This service is all available in relation to en suites and wet rooms as far as something as simple as a new shower. You can then pick the bathroom suite of your choice and we will provide a no obligation quotation for the works.
Contact FGF for all your plumbing needs with over 35 years experience in the trade you know you will get a friendly, reliable, trustworthy service from the FGF team. Weather it's a kitchen refit, bathroom installation, maintenance or repairs call Rob and the team for a free no obligation quotation or impartial advice.
All of your gas appliances, including your gas boiler, gas cooker and gas fire, should be gas safety checked once a year and serviced regularly. Not getting your gas appliances regularly checked could put you and your family at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Once we have carried out a gas safety check or installed a new gas appliance we will issue you with a gas safety record or gas safety certificate. For more information about gas safety checks and general information on gas safety in the home please visit the Gas Safe Register website for Gas Safety in the Home.
You probably don't appreciate how important you boiler is until it breaks down. Imagine - NO HEATING AND NO HOT WATER. If your boiler is more than 10 years old, you should really consider having it replaced with a new model which in turn will start saving you money straight away. At FGF our expertise is in the installation of energy efficient modern condensity boilers. These boilers are A-Rated which means they convert 90% of their fuel into heat (some old boilers this figure could be as low as 55%).
