As the air conditioning units in these care homes are often positioned in drug clinic rooms, server rooms, laundry rooms and kitchens, they are continually used throughout the year and therefore require a higher level of maintenance than units only used during the summer months. Climate control is also vital for areas such as drug clinic rooms and server rooms as they need to be kept at strictly regulated temperatures. Regular maintenance helps to ensure these temperatures are met at all times. By including for a pump replacement (should it be required) during a maintenance visit, we were able to prevent the necessity of an additional visit for this work to be carried out, reducing the overall repair and maintenance costs for our client.

We were approached by our client to help solve a problem they had with their existing Air Source Heat Pumps. These were positioned on the roof of a commercial building in Scotland and designed to provide hot water for the building. Their original contractor had installed two 60kw Air Source Heat Pumps in 2010 but since then the client had suffered from repeated compressor failure, coil bursts and complaints of vibration noise through the buildings top floors. Following a site visit, we determined that the reasons for these problems were that the units had been incorrectly installed.

Matthew has over 25 years experience of working in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. Beginning his career at the age of 16, he worked for a local contractor for several years before applying to one of the industries leading manufacturers, Daikin Europe NV. For the next 10 years, he gained invaluable experience in all aspects of the industry from working on the factory floor, through to design and product development in Europe and Japan. This wealth of technical knowledge and skills allowed him to establish Mattair Ltd in 2009, offering a professional air conditioning and refrigeration service to a small number of clients.
