We've come a long way since our business began in 1989. From being a small air conditioning and refrigeration company working for commercial customers, we have steadily evolved in response to customer demand. We specialise in hard services - heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, mechanical and electrical (M&E) maintenance, IT hardware management and support, fabric and energy systems. Our National Real Estate division delivers in-house resident and mobile service delivery tailored to customers wanting an engineering solution that needs to be flexible in meeting the evolving needs of real estate.
Our Partner John continues to hold a family day on an annual basis, to celebrate the fact that we remain a family run business with the same family values installed from the company's conception. We've always believed that it's important to put something back into the communities in which we work. Over the years, we're learned that pursuing corporate and social responsibility within the community in a hands-on way is a much more effective approach than simply ticking boxes. We try to help our customers embrace sustainability in many ways: training their own HVAC engineers in sustainable practices; specifying the most effective and eco-friendly equipment; and providing data that reveals the areas with potential for viable energy savings.
Optimum apprentices gain valuable hands-on work experience, on-site, at some of the UK's major organisations. Our apprentices are supervised and mentored by Optimum Directors and Senior Managers. Regular hands-on practical workshops - such as core electrical skills, how to change bearings, or how to engage with customers - are held to sharpen basic skills. Personal Task Sheets, Task Books and tests are used to help each apprentice gain better understanding of their role and responsibilities. Scenario training is another tool we use to build confidence and knowledge.
