We are proud of the skills we offer to our local communities and the understanding of their building needs that we have acquired during our long and proud history.

Horncastle & Sons Roofing Ltd is a Family run roofing company based in London. We have been working within the roofing industry for over 30 years and have a vast knowledge and experience in all aspects of residential roofing. Our family business specialises in all types of domestic roofing and scaffolding. We specialise in slating, tiling, flat roofs, zinc work, lead work, guttering, skylights, carpentry work, coping stones, insulation and many, many more. We have our own scaffolding division, which means that work can be executed more speedily, we can also control when the scaffolding is erected and dismantled.

Slate is as old as the planet we live on and it has been quarried and split to provide roof coverings for hundreds of years. British slate, predominantly from North Wales and Cumbria, has a reputation for being the best in the world. It is not uncommon to find a British slate roof still in perfect condition up to 200-years after it was laid. Slate is a fine-grained, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low grade regional metamorphism.

Scaffolding, is the basis of most construction projects. It is a temporary structure used to support work teams and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings. To meet with Health and safety Regulations most domestic roof work requires scaffolding. It could be a small tower scaffold to provide access to the roof, a scaffold for decoration purposes, a TV aerial installation, or for full peace of mind, many refurbishment projects require the buildings to remain fully operational during the works and as a result, the erection of temporary roofs are becoming increasingly more frequent.

Ever since the 13th century, clay roof tiles have added a tapestry of rich colours, shapes and shades to both the rural and urban built environment. Clay roof tiles have played a significant role in the historical development of architecture. The Romans were the first to make and use fired clay tile roofing in this country, and museum collections now bear witness to the widespread employment of this material. In the medieval period, the revival of the craft took place first along the eastern seaboard, where contacts with the continent were strongest and provided a strong, fire-proof alternative to thatching.

We offer a company 10-year guarantee, with a back-up guarantee which covers the Client in the event of insolvency of the Contractor. The guarantee was set up by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and the Insolvency Guarantee by a Leading Insurance Company, setting out strict guidelines, stipulating that the materials and works must comply with a British Standard Code of Practice. What happens if I do not have Insurance Backing? Ideally, your chosen contractor will always be there to respond to any problems that may arise over the next 10 years and he would remedy the work.

Horncastle & Sons are happy to undertake all types of roof repairs. We accept all sizes of jobs from replacing one tile, or repointing a chimney stack, to more general roof repairs and overhauls, lead flashings, copings, rendering, rainwater goods, whatever your requirement were here to help.
