Slates have been used as a roof covering for hundreds of years and with good reason. As well as offering a natural look that works across many architectural styles their durability make them the perfect material for roofing. Tiles now also offer this same level of durability. Whether clay or concrete they come in a variety of different colours that can add real character to your property. A well-maintained slate or tile roof will last upwards of 40 years with many lasting much longer than that. Therefore, although the initial cost maybe greater than that other roofing systems, in the long term both slate and tile provide the greater value for money.
Arguably the most aesthetically pleasing roof covering its reliable and durable qualities mean leadwork roof construction remains very popular in current times. All our Leadwork is carried out to the Lead sheet associations current standards, by qualified members of staff.

We were awarded Contractor of the Month for a very high standard of work on Carpenters Court, a residential building in North London. The rooflights on the main roof needed care to work around, and the intricate design of chutes and masonry abutments was addressed with skilled lead detailing. GWS Roofing & Loft Specialist Ltd worked through a period of extremely wet, cold weather, liaising with tenants of the property to ensure they did not disrupt daily life, especially when materials were being delivered on site.
CompetentRoofer provides certification to the roofing industry as a "Competent Person" scheme operator under Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) Building Regulations for the replacement of roof coverings on all roof types. As Competent Roofer registered contractors, we are authorised to self-certify our roof refurbishment work to confirm that it complies with the Building Regulations.
