Started in 1991, Philip Jones Roofing is now a very well-established and reputable local company, operating in the High Peak and the surrounding areas. We specialize in the renovation of the traditional stone and slate roofs that are a feature of this area, but we are also happy to undertake roofing projects using modern composite tiles and flat roofing with modern fibreglass compounds. We combine the very best of modern technology such as; Roofshield breathable membrane, graded tannalised laths and durable PVC fascias, with the craft skills and traditional materials necessary to renovate older properties.
We have carried out projects with many of the different composite roofing tiles that are available, brands such as Marley, Northstone and Redland, that are widely used in modern building developments. We have also worked with specialist composite roofing tiles, such as Bradstone tiles, which are a modern alternative when new natural stone slates are not available or are prohibitively expensive.
Building and renovating stone roofs uses many specialised skills which are becoming increasingly rare. Stone roofs are typically laid in diminishing courses towards the apex of the roof. This requires specialist skills and experience of setting out diminishing courses, dressing the stone slates to the course and fixing them using aluminium pegs. These are all skills that we use frequently in the renovation of stone roofs. We also have considerable experience of acquiring stone slates for re-use and a good knowledge of the market and local sources.
