With this form of construction, the felt roof is a surface built up on a wooden base and then adding 2 or 3 layers of bituminous roofing felt. These layers are bonded together with heated bitumen and given a finishing top coat that provides a weatherproof and attractive surface. The result is a roofing surface that forms a dense and impermeable barrier to the elements.
