Most removal companies move pianos. Revells have handled the pianos for the famous Aldeburgh Music Festival since 1969. As a precaution and at our request, several years ago, our procedures were inspected by Steinway and approved by them for moving their pianos. Since then we have had some interesting challenges. In 2002 we were asked to place a grand piano on the top floor of a converted water tower through a tall but narrow window. It was eighty feet from the ground and required scaffolding and a special hoist.
In 2008, Revells built a state of the art warehouse specially designed to provide safe and secure storage for anything from furniture to paintings, fabrics and musical instruments. The result is spectacular and we can now accommodate over 300 purpose built wooden containers in a space that has motion sensors, security cameras, smoke and fire detectors and environmental monitoring. Inspected regularly by the British Association of Removers, it meets their latest requirements fully. Some companies use farm buildings - beware!
Most of our work involves moving domestic furniture and effects or antiques and fine arts. However, we do move offices on occasions and we enjoy it. On the non-domestic side, we have moved specialist parts and machinery (for, among others, Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station), office furniture (various companies), contents of hotels (for refurbishment), theatre sets, exhibition stands, the contents of shops pubs and restaurants and even vehicles! As members of the British Association of Removers (BAR) and the European Movers' Association FEDEMAC, we are constantly under review in order to meet their stringent trading conditions and standards. Unlike many of our competitors, we have a permanent team of drivers, packers and porters who have been with the company for many years. They are the backbone of the company and Revells is very proud of its staff.
Revells must be one of the very few removal companies to have planned and shipped items to Antarctica! Normally, we move our customers' property closer to home but, in recent years, we have sent containers or shipped personal effects by sea/land to New Zealand (North and South Islands), Australia, USA (Many states via both east and west coast ports), Canada, Hong Kong, Kenya, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Cyprus (both Greek and Turkish parts) and Finland. Overland, our vehicles have visited, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Northern and Southern Ireland, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and Spain.
