When we arrived on site at this property in Hertford the construction work and structural changes had been completed. Essentially our work was to make-good damaged walls and to cover the new walls with smooth plaster finishes. In the bedrooms, hallway and the lounge our plasterers patch repaired the walls where the electrical wiring had been chased into the walls and the original plaster had either been damaged or fallen off the walls. To start the preparation of the wall plaster repairs, we first sealed the wall surfaces with PVA adhesive.
The property was undergoing refurbishments including a rear extension and the building contractors had constructed the extension walls and prepared the interior walls for plastering. In some areas they had fitted plasterboard to create stud walls or cover over damaged walls. Our task, as the plasterers, was to create the smooth plaster finishes on the walls and ceilings, ready for decorating. First of all we covered the exposed brickwork with a base coat render using a hardwall gypsum product. To start with we applied a PVA adhesive, then applied the hardwall render in coats until we had built-up the level of the interior walls to a depth that was level with the walls around the area.
With years of experience in all aspects of plastering we have been involved in countless refurbishment projects in domestic and commercial properties with varying degrees of work refurbishment work needed. If you are looking for the finishing touch to your beautifully plastered walls we can offer you a plaster coving installation service using your choice of coving style and finish. If your existing ceiling is beyond repair and needs to be taken down we can remove it, taking it back to the joists and timbers prior to installing a new one for you.
This involved hacking off the old plaster and then applying the new pebble dash. Paul gave me a competitive price, ordered all materials and carried out the job to a very good standard. He arrived punctually with his workers, acted professionally and tidied up properly afterwards. I recommend him thoroughly.' Paul completed some plaster repairs and renovations to both the interior and exterior of our house. Firstly, he put right some plaster work done by a ‘cowboy builder', fixing our ceilings and walls, so that they were straight and smooth, then he finished the job by fitting plaster coving.
Whether you are renovating, refurbishing or redecorating your home it is always important to have smooth walls and ceilings to work with in order to achieve a great finished result. It is the top coat surface of plaster that gives a wall a smooth and workable surface for decorating, and like many things; the art is in the preparation. This is when you require the skills of a specialist plasterer to make sure that your surfaces are expertly plastered and hide any imperfections; especially if you are intending to have a painted finish.
Paul did a fantastic job in my home - he plastered and skimmed walls and ceilings as well as put up plaster coving. The work was first rate, completed on time and they left no mess. Brilliant!
