We are a company passionate in everything to do with 'Gardens'! Over the years we have designed, built, planted and maintained many gardens in North London, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex. We plan and install irrigation systems, plan and plant herbaceous borders, shrubs and rejuvinate lawns!

Experienced landscape garden designers and landscape construction, we develop the plans and take it from the design plan through to the finished garden. We work on small projects, courtyard gardens and town house gardens to large scale design and construction.

At Iqon, we provide a professional lawn care service and we can advise on the best measures to achieve that perfect lawn. For a fine lawn its important to prepare the soil or tilth onto which the turf will be laid. Drainage is often an issue in North London as the underlying soil is commonly clay which has a very slow infiltation rate, so slow drainage. This can be aided by installing drainage pipes and integrating a course mix of sand into the top layers to improve drainage. The topsoil used is normally a 4mm sieved soil with added sand and this provides a suitable base for good turf.

We install fully automatic irrigation systems in many of the gardens we maintain and build. The benefits of irrigation mean you can plant throughout the year and have the perfect lawn and herbaceous borders even during dry periods. Some clients have wells in the garden where we have installed pressure sensitive pumps watering the garden with ground water. Today's sprinkler nozzles and automatic controllers allow a far more accurate water application. Older irrigation systems watered the lawn, path, house and everything around it.

Garden consultancy and management is a service whereby we can advise your gardeners who, although they may keep the garden in good shape, may not be able to determine the seasonality and management of plants. The potential of your garden can be unlocked by knowing when to prune, allowing shrubs to flower. We can advise how to manage herbaceous borders and give a garden a whole new extended summer colour dimension as well as advising on plant selection for the micro climate (damp shade, dry shade, partial shade, part sun, full sun etc) and trees and shrubs for screening and a whole lot more gardening advice including irrigation and soil moisture management.

At Iqon, we can provide a professional lawn care service and we can help and advise on the best measures to achieve that perfect lawn. Managing a lawn is on-going, but it's best to see what's happening before applying chemicals and top dressings. In addition to spray applications chemical control can be applied using granular top dressing which usually incorporates a fertiliser as well. Early season mixes are normally lower in nitrogen - possibly a 3-6-6 (N P K), where as a summer application would have higher N.
