Tamar Valley Woodworks offers a complete bespoke service, from design through to installation, of hand built kitchens and custom made furniture for studies, bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms. We also specialise in custom staircases. We use timber and veneers only from certified suppliers and endeavour to source as much timber as possible from local sawmills.
Tamar Valley Woodworks was established in1999, we are a small family run firm, with a workshop in Gunnislake, South East Cornwall. Our customers are usually discerning homeowners in Devon and Cornwall, who value craftsmanship and customer service. Pete and Ciara White jointly run the business. We take customer service very seriously and Ciara also works closely with customers throughout the process to provide support and guidance whenever required. We have a network of local tradespersons and companies who help us deliver all aspects of each project to a high level of quality and professionalism.
Perhaps the most important part of any kitchen project is the design phase. This process begins with an initial visit where your requirements are discussed. Functionality is at the heart of good design and consideration is given to storage needs, ergonomic layout and appliance requirements. Once a basic layout has been established, design styles and materials can be explored with the help of samples and computer modeling. Lighting is another important area to consider. Our electrician is accomplished in the design of innovative lighting solutions which will show the kitchen in all its glory as well as providing an excellent working environment.
Traditional cabinetwork features solid timber face frames and flush fitting doors hung on brass hinges. Our traditional kitchens are designed around these principles and are normally made from indigenous timbers and can be painted. Occasionally existing architectural details are used to create a design which fits perfectly into the building. It is even possible to copy existing moldings to make new cabinetwork which matches perfectly. Care is taken to elegantly integrate modern appliances into the custom built cabinetwork.
The staircase is a major feature of any property and with a little investment can be beautiful as well as performing it's vital function. You may require a staircase for a new build, extension or loft conversion or as a replacement for an existing staircase. We will work with you to design a solution within the space available and the necessary regulations. The staircase can be made to match or compliment existing architectural details. Existing mouldings can be copied to this aim. Alternatively the design may be bold or contemporary.
