Based near Taunton on the Somerset and Devon border, Mark Butterfield Furniture provides top quality, classic, traditional, rustic or contemporary handmade furniture. We produce items such as hand built kitchens, utility and boot rooms, bedrooms and dressing rooms, studies, snugs, offices and media rooms, together with individual pieces such as dressers, island units, tables and stools. As you browse through our website we will show you examples of traditional kitchens in solid oak, pippy oak or elm, contemporary kitchens in modern maple or cherry, classic kitchens in limed or misted oak, farmhouse kitchens with rustic finishes, and hand painted kitchens, all with worktops in Corian, Slate, Granite, Quartz or Wood.
We do our best to recommend the most suitable energy-saving appliances and use green-sourced materials including timber from sources carrying the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification, which demands the highest social and environmental requirements in the forestry sector. We also re-cycle wherever possible, whether it's the waste wood or sawdust from furniture making, cardboard from packaging, or waste paper from the office. We believe however that the very best way we can 'go green, ' is to create furniture that is built to last and that you and future generations will enjoy living with.
We have the ability to do things that other furniture making companies either can't, or choose not to do. We look at every idea, however unusual that you may have, and approach it with a 'can-do' mindset. Part of making something bespoke is being prepared to work at something until its right. If we haven't done something before, then it can take a little time to work out the best way forward, but if its possible, we will do it, and we will do it well, - even if that means producing full size sample pieces or having more than one attempt at a piece until its perfect for you.
At Mark Butterfield Furniture, we offer exceptional quality together with professional but friendly customer service and sensible prices. We are passionate about what we do and Mark Butterfield is always personally involved from the initial visit, through the design and installation to completion. We believe it's important for our clients to have the same point of contact every step of the way, and open communication throughout. Choices are unlimited when it comes to creating the design for your furniture, but they don't have to be daunting.
Mark Butterfield Furniture is proud to use only the finest quality, most durable materials and processes in the construction of our bespoke furniture, sourced as locally as possible. Everything we make for you is designed, produced and finished by our small team of talented craftsmen using hand tools, machines and processes in our Somerset workshop. Even the integrated waste bins we supply can be made to whatever size you require, handcrafted locally from stainless steel and mounted on solid wood bases with hidden full extension soft close runners.
Mark remains your 'main point of contact' right from the initial visit, through the design and manufacturing process, and then through to the installation of your furniture. He can arrange every detail of the project, and if you wish, co-ordinate the installation with your own builder, plumber, electrician or decorator. If you want your furniture hand painted, distressed, or finished in any other way, we can provide the exact finish you require. We can even provide a Restoration and French Polishing service to help bring your antique furniture back to life, to complement the new furniture we provide.
Announcing the retirement this weeks of our much loved and valued colleague Paul Ridge, who took the leap from being a desk bound accountant to joining the team as a hands-on member of the workshop almost 7 years ago. How time flies!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wishing everyone better times ahead.
