Based in West Sussex, HomeSmiths Ltd are a dynamic husband and wife led interior design practice offering a blend of sound technical ability and creative flair. At HomeSmiths we believe that interior design is about creating environments which people want to live in, spaces that work for you whether you are a busy working family or a resident in a care home. Good design is design that looks the part but has also considered how the space needs to function. We understand this. We pride ourselves on listening to our clients and provide carefully tailored interior design to meet the brief, working throughout the South East in Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
Formed in 2001 by David and Jacqui Smith, HomeSmiths is a Sussex based, dynamic husband and wife led interior design practice working with residential clients, national property developers, healthcare providers and also on commercial projects, offering a full service from the design to the install stages. Jacqui is a creative ex-marketer with a keen eye for colour and detail. She has been a professional member of SBID since 2012, is currently SBID Regional Director for the South East and also sits on the SBID Healthcare Advisory Council.
Bathrooms are such personal spaces and HomeSmiths realise that to fully fulfil the potential of a bathroom whilst pleasing everyone, takes a lot of creative planning and re-designing. Whether you are a bath or a shower person, we can help you to achieve your dream wet area. Choosing from the minefield of the growing ranges of sanitary ware, tiling and state of the art technology can be overwhelming, we can take the pain out of your decision making by listening to your needs and sourcing the right products for you.
We offer our residential clients unfussy yet sophisticated, practical yet elegant interior design through a range of services; from ideas on a pair of curtains or colour scheme in a single room, to new bathrooms and kitchen extensions, to a total home re-design. Whilst we are always happy to start with a totally blank canvas, we often work with clients to perfect a room, removing the aspects that don't work, while retaining all that they love about the space. We then focus our expertise on the key areas needing attention, be it lighting, layout, colour, furniture, soft furnishings or flooring.
Family kitchen diners certainly add value to a property but most importantly they enhance family living. This project involved the doubling of the old kitchen space to create a kitchen. The owners of this luxury apartment were looking for a complete refurbishment and change of style after some extensive fire damage. Having seen one of our show homes they approached. This five bedroom show home on the Spireswood Grange development in a stunning Hurstpierpoint village location was designed in a sophisticated palette of taupe grey, silver and mulberry.
When it comes to interior design for the healthcare industry we know that understanding the needs of residents and carers is key whether it's a nursing home, an Extra Care scheme, a hospice or a dementia care facility. Designing with this in mind we create warm and inviting, practical and inclusive schemes, environments which people want to spend time in. As well as designing with sensory and cognitive decline in mind, Jacqui is trained in Applied Colour Psychology and applies these principles within her designs.
HomeSmiths understand how important it is to have a calming and peaceful place to sleep. We understand colour psychology, which means even if you love bold colours in your bedrooms, we can help you to pick out just the right tone and shade to induce a good nights' sleep. Bedrooms are a great place to showcase a fabulous fabric at the window, or make use of awkward spaces using cleverly considered built in storage solutions. Whatever your needs, HomeSmiths can help you to make your bedrooms clutter-free, restful spaces.
It was the first time we worked with an interior designer to help us create a unique look and feel in our new home. Mr and Mrs Smith delivered on our brief and the customer service was second to none! I would not hesitate to recommend HomeSmiths to my friends and family

A little reminder of our Christmas opening hours. HomeSmiths are closing for the festive break on Friday 18th December and re-opening on Monday 11th January. We wish all of our lovely followers, customers and suppliers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Perhaps not so "ta-da" as the last post but this en-suite makes me very happy.
A really enjoyable day down at @nyton_house today, completing the fit out of The Coach House, a 9 bed residential dementia wing.
I love our village shops, looking especially pretty at this time of year. You can get so much in Lindfield - gorgeous clothes, fantastic homewares, lovely toys, jewellery, delicious deli treats and just the best selection of wine, beer and spirits. The service is always so helpful and friendly too.
