The Brief: To create a stimulating, sumptuous and stylish dining room; sufficiently elegant to be in keeping with the classic style of this period house, yet interesting, eclectic and rather fun too. Work Completed: Our clients are keen art collectors with some beautiful pieces from South East Asia, including a large jade bust, which provided the inspiration for both the colour scheme and the oriental influences. We used bold colours with opulent fabrics and materials; silks and velvets from Jim Thompson, Sanderson and Rubelli in assorted shades of green and blue, with walls painted in Zoffany's Prussian Blue.
Julie Maclean Interior Design produce and deliver beautiful, bespoke kitchens and cabinets, hand-built to exacting standards in our Suffolk workshop. We work closely with our clients to design and plan the most effective use of space, creating functional and aesthetically inspiring kitchens, utility, laundry and boot rooms that complement and enhance everyday living. We pay great attention from concept to completion, maintaining control over the smallest details, to ensure our clients' enjoyment of the finished product.
Affordable Vintage Style Searching for a small but striking coffee table I came across this little beauty from IKEA. The Lovbacken side table was originally conceived in 1953 and was recently reintroduced as part of a limited edition classic collection. At only 45 it's exceptional value for money.
New clients often approach us when they've had an extension built onto a period property, then find they can't make the extension feel like a part of the original house. We wish they'd come to us at an earlier stage but we're always happy to help! Such was the case with this 1930s house in.
Linwood Fabrics One of the best things about my job is the fact that I get to work with some lovely people. I'm lucky to receive regular visits from the companies that actually design and make the fabrics and wallpapers we use in our projects. So this week we welcomed Anne Olley from Linwood to talk.
An interesting look at Pantone's Colour of the Year, which for 2020 is Classic Blue. As you can see, the trend for bold colours shows no sign of abating! It's not a particularly easy colour to work with, but I love to see this strong blue contrasted with a pastel, like blush pink and of course it's.
