Blue Iris Landscapes and the Managing Director, Jason Harker, have been transforming and maintaining our customers' grounds since 1995. We are an award-winning professional grounds maintenance, landscaping and garden design company catering for both commercial and private gardens. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work, our excellent customer service and our horticultural expertise. We provide our services throughout Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. Our team of gardeners work hard all year round to ensure 100% customer satisfaction every time.
The Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards Gala was held on the evening of Thursday 5th July. The awards celebrate the achievements of businesses and employees across the Staffordshire area. Specifically, this year was JHPS Gardens entry for Employee of the Year Award. This award honours employees who continually provide outstanding contributions to a business by their exceptional performance. Focused around paying homage to those companies that create beautifully designed gardens and other outdoor spaces, the BUILD Landscape and Gardening Awards are held on an annual basis by BUILD - a popular construction and property magazine.
A well-cared for lawn is possibly the most important feature of your garden as it often takes up the most space and can create a beautiful setting for borders, trees and other features. As this aspect of garden maintenance is so important, lawn care is one of the services we offer so that your garden can look its very best. After all, your grass is just another plant that needs certain requirements to be met to help it thrive. During the growing season, we mow most of our customers' lawns on a weekly basis.
Commercial grounds maintenance is one of the primary services offered by Blue Iris Landscapes. This can involve anything from a one-off tidy up of the grounds to the regular maintenance of a head office. Some of our commercial customers that we have completed work for include The Orange Tree Day Nursery (Newcastle), The Upper House Hotel (Barlaston), BRB Wealth Management, Savills and St. Modwen. We cater for a wide spectrum of businesses, all of which expect - and receive - a high standard of work and excellent customer service.
Most brick walls are of 9-inch construction (outer and inner skin). If the inner skin is not seen we often do this in 100mm solid concrete blocks. The foundation as a standard is normally 450mm wide by 225mm deep. This is easily adequate for the majority of brick and stone walls that we construct. This ensures that there is no subsidence and therefore no cracks will appear throughout your wall. We can build retaining walls to a structural engineers specification or we can bring in our own architect or/and structural engineer.
During the summer months, who doesn't want a lush lawn for the children to play on, or for us adults to relax and soak up the sun on? At Blue Iris Landscapes, we have laid small areas of grass as well as much larger areas of many hundreds of square metres. In general, we use a high-quality amenity turf. However, we can order in alternative turfs with different ratios of bents, fescues and rye to achieve the type of lawn you require. If necessary we can use the dumpy level or string lines to make sure the levels are correct.
Pressure washing (also known as power washing) uses a highly pressurised water jet to blast away dirt, moss, lichens, algae and even chewing gum from hard surfaces. It can greatly improve the appearance of your stone/concrete flags, wooden decking, patios and tarmac. It also makes them less slippery, which is important for health and safety, particularly on steps and pathways. We can carry out pressure washing for just 1.50+VAT per square metre. This is subject to a minimum charge of 180.00 plus VAT for coming to your garden or place of work to carry out the service.
Trees are the most important natural resource in a garden. Trees not only add colour and interest to gardens all year round, but they are vital for our wildlife and the environment. From time to time specimen trees need attention to keep them balanced and healthy. We carry out major tree work, light pruning and crown lifting, as well as preventative measures to ensure that the tree remains healthy and an asset to your garden. These trees can help develop the interest of children in natural living things - they can derive great enjoyment from seeing the fruits develop and ripen before they eventually eat them.
Hedge cutting is an important aspect of garden maintenance, as hedges often surround our properties and give the first impression of our home to guests and passers-by. There is nothing worse than an unevenly cut hedge. We specialise in and take pride in our hedge trimming and cutting service, using Stihl petrol hedge cutters to provide our customers with the best possible first impression for their home. Hedges are an ideal feature for aesthetic and practical purposes and can form a backdrop for a border or be used as a property boundary instead of a wall or fence.
There is a large variety of shrubs and small ornamental trees, some of which are grown for their flowers or fruit; whereas others are grown for the colour of their bark. Each shrub has to be pruned individually and to its own specification to get the very best out of them. With our many years of experience, we know exactly how to carry out shrub pruning and trimming ensuring we encourage healthy growth, great flowering and good production of fruit or berries. Shrubs can be trimmed or pruned to encourage new growth that will give, depending on the shrub/tree variety, good colour in the stems/trunks, e.g.
We all lead busy lives and, come the summer months, we're sure you only want to spend time relaxing in your garden instead of working on it. Having Blue Iris Landscapes carry out your garden maintenance allows you to do that! Garden maintenance includes all of the necessary jobs that are required to keep your garden looking fantastic all year round. We carry out work on a range of gardens - from very small gardens to large estates. The one common denominator for all of our clients is that they expect a high-quality job and excellent customer service.
Decking is constructed with three different types of material, redwood, hardwood or a synthetic material. We find decking particularly useful if there is a significant slope on the site or the client wants an additional seating area constructed of a material other than stone. Another way that it is used very successfully is that we can lift it to the same level as the floor in the house. Therefore when the patio doors are opened it is an extension of their living area. We construct our decked areas on a suspended frame.
Also known as Contemporary, Minimalist or Formal gardens, Modern gardens are very popular at the moment. They normally have straight lines as a feature of their design. They also quite often have gravel or slate within in them and the planting is minimal, again often in straight lines or blocks to give maximum impact. Other features include lighting, rendered walls to give that clean minimal look and composite decking, which is quite often used along with fire pits to add a real feature. Often we are asked to use water or at least incorporate the sound of water into this style of garden.
Blue Iris Landscapes offers Landscaping and Garden Design Services in Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We carry out all aspects of hard and soft garden landscaping, specialising in large patios and terraced areas, a range of planting schemes such as formal, contemporary and cottage styles, lawn laying, water features, pergolas and much more. We also offer ongoing garden maintenance. To make it even more affordable we have a range of payment options and this also includes 0% finance on landscaping quotes over 5,000.
Our landscape design package allows you to turn your ideas into a 3D visualisation of your future garden. Struggling to decide on what you want, that's not a problem. Our professional in-house design team will work with you to transform your requirements and aspirations into a virtual garden. Our aim is to create your dream garden, allowing you to take a walk through the finished project before it even begins. We start with an informal chat to discuss your garden, your requirements and what you want from your completed garden.
We tend to construct two types of fencing primarily that of concrete posts, kick boards and wooden fence panels. Fence panels range hugely from simple Waney lap to very decorative curved or woven panels, e.g. Europa Prague. One of the most common panels is the Featheredge, as this is a very strong but nice looking fence panel. The other type of fence we construct a lot of is where you have a straight run of what appears to be fence panels but it is all constructed on site, with this type of fence there are no posts visible, this is a more aesthetically pleasing fence.
