Paynes Turf is a family-run, environmentally conscious turf specialist that grows and harvests high quality turf on its farms in Essex and Suffolk. We operate our own fleet of delivery vehicles with forklift unloading, providing our customers with an exceptional delivery service. Get everything you need for your turf installations from Paynes Turf. We supply a choice range of premium turfs (including Pro Sports and Big Roll), topsoils and landscaping ancillary products, such as soil improver, border bark and grass seed mixes.
Established in 1971, Paynes Turf is a family-owned business that cultivates a variety of turfs on our farms in Essex and Suffolk, including Premium Grade Turf and Pro Sports Turf. We also sell Topsoil, Border Bark, plants, grass seed, lawn care, and pest control products. All of Paynes' turf is grown from our own seed mixtures, using only top STRI (The Sports Turf Research Institute) cultivars for high germination, good establishment and disease resistance. Carefully scheduled seeding programmes ensure availability all year round, as our turf is never harvested until it is fully mature.
Turf enables you to create a smooth, green lawn almost instantly, and in contrast with the seeding option, this can be done at almost any time of year (weather allowing!). However, it's essential for the beauty and longevity of your new lawn that you prepare the ground underneath properly before laying your turf, otherwise even the highest quality of turf will not give satisfactory results. Follow our ten easy steps to ensure that your new lawn looks its best from day one, and continues to do so right throughout the year.
Keep your lawn looking lush, green and in tiptop condition all year round with our regular lawn care maintenance programme. Naturally occurring in the autumn and winter in mild and damp weather, white mould spores can appear on your lawn particularly in shady or sheltered areas. Although this can be a bit unsightly, frosty weather usually eliminates it. The grass usually recovers the following spring. Common in warm and damp conditions on newly laid turf and established lawns. Do not eat toadstools as they could well be poisonous.
I'm a sole trader and I use Paynes for all my turfing projects. Reliable service, good value and lovely people.
No, this is not the Maldives. it's one of the reservoirs we built to make our turf production as eco-friendly as possible. A winter reservoir, it fills up from November onwards with natural water. Fancy a dip?
