We are a family run business near Cambridge and specialise in the installation, sanding and sealing of hardwood flooring. Our range of hardwoods include the more common species such as oak, maple, teak, pitch pine, walnut and bamboo through to the more exotic such as curupau, wenge, tigerwood and zebrano, these come in a variety of styles from boards to parquet such as mosaic and blocks.
Q: Why choose a solid hardwood floor over laminate? A: Although a solid wood floor is more expensive than laminate you are getting a floor for life where as with laminate you will have to replace as you do with carpet as it wears. Q: Does it require ongoing maintenance? A: All hardwood floors need maintenance from time to time but the sealed finish on our floors should not need anymore than a sweep over occasionally with a soft brush. If after about 10 years it starts to look a little dull you can simply have another coat of seal applied.
We shall deliver the wood at a time convenient a minimum of two weeks before the start date in order for the wood to acclimatise to the conditions of the premises, preferably stored in the area where it is to be laid. Any work needed to be done to the sub floor would be done in the two week period before the start date. The floor will then be installed according to the clients specification and skirting fixed (if required), if it is a pre-finished floor the job will be complete. Sometimes a staircase can be too expensive to resurface but that doesn't mean you have to carpet over it, even if the stairs are damaged. With our technique of renovation you can have the choice of many woods to suit your budget and achieve the look you desire. We achieve this by measuring and machining the chosen wood to the required size and overlaying the treads and risers, although some modification may be needed to the treads the structure of the staircase is left untouched. Using this method you can choose from woods such as Oak, Maple or Sycamore to more exotic types.
