Strip is a type of wood flooring characterised by its solid wood pieces laid out in parallel rows. Typically it consists of thin wood planks, usually between 6mm to 22mm thick with widths ranging from 57mm to 300mm. Choosing the right type of wood for your room makes all the difference to the overall look, finish and feel of the room. You can use a wide range of wood types for strip flooring but we believe that the best hardwood floors are made with wood from sustainable forests. Oak is predominantly the flooring of choice but we can also supply and install, maple, walnut, teak, ash, beach, merbau, and other exotic flooring options.
At Bishops we pride ourselves on our solid wood flooring and engineered flooring installations. We have 45+ years of experience supplying and laying the finest, luxury hardwood floors. Solid wood floors are full of character. The difference between oak, parquet, pine boards, mahogany, teak, maple and beech wood floors (to name but a few) provides variety beyond your imagination. With such variety we can install beautiful floors to suite every taste and purpose. We fit and refinish many types of wooden floors to the highest of standards at very competitive prices.
Parquet flooring, sometimes know as Herringbone flooring, is composed of wooden blocks arranged in a geometric pattern. There is a difference between hardwood flooring and parquet in the way the wood is processed when the wooden flooring is made. It is a popular option amongst our customers. It is manufactured out of thin wood pieces, which can vary in characteristics, and is known for its long lifespan and natural beauty. The choices available for parquet flooring range widely and we would be delighted to explore the best options for you and your home.
For over 45 years we have worked hard to perfect our craft. We are experts in the restoration, supply and installation of solid wood flooring of all types. We give genuine help and guidance to clients looking for impartial flooring advice. The machine sanding and laying of wood floors was first undertaken by Ronald Bishop, the founder of the company. Ron had a natural interest and understanding in timber and was passionate about his work. This enthusiasm has been passed down from generation to generation, and Bishops Flooring is now owned and managed by the original founders son, Mark Bishop, and grandson Craig.
Bishops is a family firm with many years of experience in renovating existing wooden flooring and supplying and laying new wood floors, helping you create a specific look in your home to fulfil your dream.
Regardless of the cause of the damage to your wooden floors our sanding and restoration service can help you. One of the key characteristics of a wood floor is that even the most tired and loved floor can be renovated and repaired to return it to its intrinsic beauty. Our skilled team of flooring contractors can replace damaged boards in your existing floor with a similar type and grade of wood as the current flooring. We may also fill in cracks and gaps with a custom filler. Even after years of wear and tear we can machine sand your floor to vastly improve it.
Hoping everyone is keeping safe and well.
