Ted Todd is an independent, British-based wood floor manufacturer, committed to the socially and environmentally responsible production of high quality wood floors and wall cladding. Our heritage dates back to the year 1993, when we first started reclaiming and restoring wood floors from our small base in the centre of Warrington. We started making new wood floors in 1997, drawing on what we had learnt from reclaiming 18th and 19th century wood floors. These were mostly solid, wide and long Oak floorboards which quickly proved popular with customers.

By using our bespoke flooring service you can experiment with pattern, scale, grade, texture, edge details, tone and finish to create a unique wood flooring that you will find nowhere else on the planet. Engineered flooring is undoubtedly the most common construction we use at Ted Todd and Woodworks by Ted Todd. Whilst for many years, and still to this day in some cases, solid wood flooring has reigned as a good quality choice, engineered wood flooring has the edge and is certainly the king when it comes to construction. One of the most common questions we get asked is, 'what's the difference between solid and engineered hardwood flooring?' - it's a valid question; on appearance alone, these two very different types of wood flooring can seem near identical.

Parquetry can encompass many different patterns each made from wooden blocks, popular ones include herringbone, chevron and basket weave. As well as this, parquet blocks are also used for panel designs, which involve patterns surrounded a border that are fixed into panels. Popular panel designs using parquetry include parquet de Versailles, parquet de Chevney and parquet de Ardeche. We have many different parquet flooring designs at Ted Todd, including panels that come ready to install, and loose herringbone and chevron blocks that you can create your own patterns with.

Most of the woods that we see in Europe and North America fit in the category of being light woods. This is because these light woods are the temperate hardwoods found in this part of the world. Oak, Maple, Ash, Beech, Sycamore are examples, to name just a few. We make some of these woods into solid and engineered wood flooring. They come in different designs from narrow plank widths all the way up to Superwide planks, herringbone, chevron and handmade panels. Reclaimed wood flooring is wood that has been sourced from existing historical buildings, before being repurposed and transformed into a reclaimed engineered wood floor in our Cheshire workshops.
