Last year we moved to our lovely new forever home at The Grainstore in Canon Frome, HR8 2TE. Only a mile away as the crow flies, we can be found just off the Ledbury road. There is an updated map on our contact us page. We supply and install a variety of traditional and rustic styles of fencing, gates and garden installations throughout Herefordshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, the Midlands and the UK. All our products are made from sustainably harvested, naturally durable local timber.
Say It With Wood have been providing cleft Chestnut fencing and forestry services for years and it's certainly been an interesting journey with various changes along the way. However some things have remained the same from the beginning, the company has always prided itself on providing a personable service to all their customers whilst offering a high quality, durable and sustainable product. Many people ask how Toby and Aly came to create Say It with Wood and where their story started. You can also look at our Meet the Team page to learn about the crew and their roles.
These are some examples of structures we have made - if you have a project in mind we will try to make it happen or supply the timber. Call us to discuss your ideas. Turns a static caravan into a log cabin! From fully covering an existing structure, mending a barn or creating a shelter. We always have suitable cladding material in stock. Prices vary depending on market forces, but currently Red Cedar or Larchis 17 per cubicmetre.
We are proud of the consistent quality of our logs. Logs and cordwood are available from our woodland management and coppicing work in local woodlands. Visit the yard before ordering and you can see the quality for yourself. Glamping or have a fire pit? We always have ‘stake triangles', (offcuts from the stake making process which season quickly) by the dumpy bag or the lorry load (2.5 cubic metres). See here for more information on our affordable triangles. Winter is the best time to install new fences.
Sweet Chestnut is a hard wood and well known as being amazingly strong, durable and long lasting. We cut, harvest and process all our products from well managed local woodlands. The cut stools regrow vigorously, taking up far more carbon dioxide than a newly planted tree; if done well these trees can be harvested on rotation for years to come. A coppice will yield good straight poles which are turned into fencing using traditional tools and skills. Chestnut is full of tannin (a natural preservative) and has very little sapwood, which makes it incredibly resistant to rotting.
Winter is the best time to install new fences. It gives the ground plenty of time to recover and plants a time to get established, creating a natural look that appears to have been there for years. Whatever kind of fence or gate you're looking for, give us a call on to discuss on 07958345833. Did You know. There was a recording of a chestnut wood in the Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire) in 1170! Chestnuts have been prized for their strong, rot resistant timber for hundreds of years. It's nice to think that some of the trees we harvest today could be the progeny of that ancient woodland.
We specialise in cleft Chestnut fencing and are very proud of the quality of the products we make. You can buy the materials and components to make your own fence or we can design, supply and install your fence for you. Below are a few examples of the fencing and other products we make. Feel free to contact us with any questions or to discuss a project. We sell most fencing by the bay or section, if you give us the distance you need to fence we can work out the amount of bays needed. Winter is the best time to install new fences.
