We specialise in the fabrication and installation of continuous welded Estate fencing, park fencing, decorative wrought iron railings, gates and pergolas. Much of our ironwork is bespoke - made to order and tailored carefully to our client's exact specification. For over 30 years we have provided a highly personal and professional service including design, manufacture and installation of all Estate and municipal metalwork including restoration and renovation. We provide bespoke fencing solutions, using our experience and technical understanding of metal fencing. One of the advantages of our technique is the ability to adapt metal fencing to suit our client's requirements. This can take the form of changes in height, or number of rails, the shape of steel bar, the spacing between rails, or the material used. We are often asked to replicate interesting versions of estate fencing, the original designs of which varied widely across the country. We can do so in Mild steel, or for important heritage sites, in original wrought iron with cast posts.
We take great pleasure in restoring wrought iron and metal fencing back to its original state. We have been involved in numerous HLS projects, environmental schemes, and renovations to metal fencing in listed parkland or for heritage sites. Often there is fantastic original wrought fencing, which has been left in a state of decay. Our philosophy in such cases is to repair this and reuse as much of the original as possible. Whilst this can in some cases be more expensive than a new fence, the heritage and emotional value of the original makes this worthwhile.
Our steel and wrought iron pergolas are constructed from 20 or 25mm solid steel bar, and comprise a series of hoops with a row of top and two rows of side connecting bars. They can be any size, any length and can have side hoops added to make offshoot arches, walkways etc. These can be supplied for self- installation and include ground sockets, and all necessary connectors. They can also be constructed on site and welded, enabling the pergola to follow a curved path. Stonebank Ironcraft Ltd will from now on be trading as Britannia Metalwork Services.
