DBS are proud to be one of the most technically advanced Mechanical and Electrical Design and Build Contractors in the UK. By understanding our clients' desire for innovative design, along with their need for sustainability, usability and value for money, we aim to provide outstanding service, choice and value on a comprehensive range of building services. Operating from our offices in Newark and Birmingham, we directly employ our own Project and Site Managers, Design and Contract Engineers, CAD Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Site Operatives and Administrative Personnel to give our clients continuity of service from the first estimate to the final delivery.

We currently employ over 240 people and proudly boast a retention rate of more than 90% over the last 10 years. The business is split into three Contracts Departments, East and West, based at our Head Office in Newark, and Birmingham. Our Design Department and our Maintenance and Small Works Department both operate from our Newark office. Unique from other Mechanical and Electrical Contractors we directly employ all of our office and site operatives allowing us complete control over our projects from design and installation to aftercare and maintenance.

From individual projects to roll out programmes across the country, Derry Building Services have worked with major retailers to deliver fit outs and refurbishments of retail space.

Training is incredibly important - it is our way of pro-actively working to secure the future success of our business by organically growing our workforce from within.' In addition to the two recognised trade apprenticeships that we operate we also have our own internal training programme. We see the completion of NVQ3 as only the beginning. We monitor our staff carefully and record any who show aptitude and academic ability and ear mark them for further training and career development. This academic year we have enrolled five members of staff onto HNC courses in Building Services Engineering to further their careers as Electrical and Mechanical Design and Contracts Engineers.

We employ more than fifty five highly experienced Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers, Estimators and CAD Engineers who are able to work to whatever financial or environmental restrictions our clients may have. All of our designs are carried out using Advanced Engineering and Computer Aided Design Technology, using Auto-Cad Design Software. As the construction industry continues towards a digital built environment, DBS recognise that Building Information Modelling is an integral part of the construction industry going forward.

Over the last 20 years DBS have grown from a business turning over 8 million to one turning over approximately 70 million per annum. Unique in our field our turnover is split equally between our two disciplines. In the last financial year 48% of our turnover was attributed to electrical works and 48% to mechanical works. The remainder being attributed to our Maintenance and Small Works Department. These figures prove that we are a genuine M&E company, not only setting us apart from our competition, but also giving our clients the confidence that we have sound experience and expertise in both areas.

Having completed over 3 million square feet of office space for developers, investors, owner occupiers and tenants, Derry Building Services have vast experience of delivering quality new and refurbished office space nationwide. Consideration is given to energy efficiency, BREEAM, renewables, value and life cycle costs to deliver a cost effective solution to the client.
