M&S Electrical was established in 1995. We are an NICEIC registered and certified electrical contractor with an enviable reputation working with local building contractors, housing associations, care homes, small and large businesses, and domestic customers; advising on and carrying out all aspects of electrical work including domestic, commercial, and industrial installations. With an expanding team, located in the Wealden town of Hawkhurst, we are conveniently placed for transport links to access the entire South East and regularly work across Kent, East and West Sussex as well as areas of Surrey and Greater London.
We offer a whole range of industrial electrical services. This is a selection of some of the industrial electrical services which we offer but it is by no means exhaustive. Please get in touch with us to find out how we can help.
According to gov.uk, "in the event of a fire in your home, you are at least 4 times more likely to die if there is no working smoke alarm". This is why it is absolutely imperative to ensure that smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and other fire detection systems are maintained regularly and kept up to date. The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 state that; Private sector landlords are required from 1 October 2015 to have at least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of their properties and a carbon monoxide alarm in any room containing a solid fuel burning appliance (eg a coal fire, wood burning stove).
By incorporating a full electrical plan at the outset of building plans, you are able to create a fully bespoke system and installation across all electrical systems in your house. With our advice and guidance, we can help you to electrically future-proof your house in case circumstances changes or to allow for upgrades of your systems in the future. Incorporating this into the initial build heavily reduces costs in the future and can also ensure that works are carried out in collaboration with all other building elements and with minimal disruption to you.
We're able to completely rewire your house whether it be a victorian townhouse or a newly built apartment. In order to keep up to date with modern security standards, it is imperative that electrical inspections be carried out regularly. BS 7671 requires an Electrical Installation Certificate to be issued for all new electrical installation work - such safety certification is not an optional extra for electrical work conforming to BS 7671. On an NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificate the Approved Contractor's full enrolment number should be shown within the "construction" box on page 2 of the certificate.
We offer a large variation of wet and dry heating systems as well as water heaters. M&S Electrical are able to offer full heating installations of all types of heating systems including underfloor heating.
All of our electricians are fully trained in inspection and testing procedures and are qualified to supply and issue NICEIC Completion certificates. There is now, more than ever, a growing demand for testing and certification to be carried out as domestic, commercial and industrial premises realize the benefits of periodic inspections and NICEIC Certification. For more information on the requirements for electrical certification please see below. We are able to issue among others; NICEIC Periodic Inspection certificates, Fire Alarm certificates, Emergency lighting certificates and Minor Work certificates.
For our customer's peace of mind, M&S Electrical are fully accredited and insured NICEIC contractors. For domestic clients, this gives the extra peace of mind provided by the NICEIC's Insurance Backed Warranty. We also have full corporate insurance with asset protection, legal liability, and employers liability insurance policies in place. NICEIC provides assessment and certification services for contractors working across the building services sectors and assesses electricians, renewable energy installers, plumbers and gas and heating engineers.
The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) is the industry's independent, non-profit-making voluntary regulatory body covering the whole of the United Kingdom. They are not a trade association and do not represent the interests of electrical contractors. The NICEIC's sole purpose is to protect you, the customer, from unsafe and unsound electrical work. One of the conditions of enrolment with the NICEIC is that member's work must comply with British Standard BS 7671 and all other relevant British Standards and Industry Codes of Practice.
M&S Electrical and fully qualified and certified to fit commercial and industrial fire alarm systems with full compliance to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. There are many types of fire alarm suitable for different purposes and locations - please get in touch to discuss the best options your situation and premises.
M&S Electrical understand that being regulation compliant is of absolute paramount importance to the health and wellbeing of our customers and staff, as well as to the future development of our business. In the Regulatory Impact Assessment, the Government estimated that approximately 30% of electrical accidents could be prevented through regulation and that this would justify bringing electrical work in dwellings under Building Regulations control. Part P states that "Reasonable provision shall be made in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installations from fire or injury."
I Cannot fault the amazing service these guys gave me at a serious time of need, when my new hob and oven was delivered by a well known company (*cough*currys*cough*) but disappointingly not installed (even though I paid for it to be!) because the job wasn’t going to be a 5 minute one - WELL, turns out not all superhero’s wear capes, some come in a van and wear steel toe caps 😆 Mat and his colleague were super friendly and happy to turn my bad day into a good one!
Thank you so much for the quick and efficient work you did, you’re nothing short of brilliant and I will be recommending you to anyone else in electrical need from now on!
5***** I have had M & S out to do electrical work on several occasions and highly recommend them. They have always been very professional in their approach to whatever is asked of them and carry the work out efficiently. Affordable pricing is the added bonus.
M&S upgraded our fuse board and did a number of other electrical jobs for us. They were very nice to have around, very prompt and would use again. They also came back and fixed a problem for us without issue.

Three times now Matt and his team have fixed my electrical problems... all really quick and really efficiently. Excellent service at affordable prices. I called him at 2 this afternoon, by half three he had arrived, fixed my problem and left! Highly recommend. Thanks Matt.
I highly recommend Matt and Shaun. They've done a few bits of work for me including making a floodlight safe and putting up a much needed basketball hoop over it! They are reliable, polite, very clear with quotes, and do a great job!
So happy with the work the lads done in my kitchen (I now have lights and sockets!!). Really friendly, happy people. Honestly can't recommend them enough. Definitely will be calling them again for the next project.
Matts service is top notch! Super supportive in helping me achieve my husbands hobby room electrical requirements. He's helping us do the job to a very tight budget by being very flexible with support, timings and advice. I can't speak highly enough of this guy!
